Classroom requirements for Ohio Rider Courses.
The ERC does not require a classroom. All topics are discussed as part of the range activities. GWRRA Rider Courses need a classroom which will be available for approx. 3½ to 4 hours total, and has seating for all class participants. Tables are desirable. At a minimum an electrical outlet must be available for a projector. It is desirable that an overhead transparency projector and screen be available, along with a chalk or erasable marking board. If these are not available the instructors need to know so that they can make other arrangements.

Range Requirements For Ohio Rider Courses
Experienced Rider Course (ERC)
Approx. 120’ by 220’ plus 40’ additional runoff on all sides, making a total range dimension of 200’ x 300’.
Surface must be nearly level and in good condition with no large cracks or potholes.

Trike Riders Course (TRC) and Trailering Course (TC)

Approx. 120’ x 200’ plus 20’ additional runoff on all sides, making a total range dimension of 160’ x 240’.
Surface condition is not as critical as for the ERC, but must be reasonably good.

Additional Requirements for ERC, TRC and TC Range Course
No drains, above-level grates, light poles, curbs, or other obstructions within this dimension. Must be able to be secured from cars, other vehicles, and pedestrian traffic. GWRRA Rider Courses cannot be held on the same range as an already established BRC or ERC, due to the confusion which would result from the additional markings. Separate ranges must be found.

Submitting a range
Inspect and measure the potential range and surrounding area to be sure it meets the above criteria. If you would like to initiate the range submission yourself, speak to the owner/administrator about GWRRA use of the range and discuss possible classroom use, if available. Complete the Range Data Sheet and Letter of Understanding (signed by sponsor administrator) and submit them to the Rider Course Coordinator. Please communicate your intentions to the Coordinator before beginning this process in order to avoid any misunderstandings.

If you prefer, the Coordinator can take over the process once you have found a range that you believe to be suitable. Just contact the Coordinator with the range location and contact information of the owner/administrator. NOTE: Please do not contact a site sponsor who is already sponsoring a site for Motorcycle Ohio unless you have cleared this with the GWRRA of Ohio Rider Course Coordinator. There are additional details to be taken under consideration.

Planning a Class
IMPORTANT!
Under Ohio law, GWRRA may only present Rider Courses to current GWRRA members. Under no circumstances should a non-GWRRA member be allowed to participate in a GWRRA Rider Course.
Once the paperwork has been submitted and the range has been approved, a class may be tentatively scheduled. The proposed date(s) must be approved by the site sponsor and by the Ohio Rider Course Coordinator. Inform the Coordinator if you already have instructors lined up, or he will make arrangements for instructors. With the instructors in place registrations are ready to begin. All registrations are handled by the Coordinator, to whom registration forms (available on the Ohio Rider Education website) and checks must be sent. Courses will be filled on a first-come basis. Registration details are on the form. No money or registration forms should be handled by the instructors. The Coordinator will communicate registrations to the instructors and to the District Educator, so that steps may be taken if necessary to see that the class is filled.
