Working Together To "GIT-R-DONE"
Ohio = 6K +

It is hard to believe the 2005 Ohio Buckeye Rally and Wing Ding XXVII are behind us. We always look forward to these “family reunions” and the opportunity to spend time with our friends and make new acquaintances.

We would be remiss if we did not again thank all the Chapters and members who helped make the Buckeye Rally a successful and fun event.  The District Staff has the responsibility for planning, but the Chapter members make it happen by their participation and involvement in rally activities and events.
By working as a TEAM, we “GIT-ER-DONE”, and that is what makes Ohio GWRRA #1.

We want to thank Tom & Cheryl Vunerink, Chapter P ACD, and their members for their “extra” help putting on the Field Events at the Ohio Buckeye rally and Bob & Cindy Jarrett, Chapter T CD, for their kind gifts of the “GIT-ER-DONE” flag & cigarette lighter.

We would like to give advanced notification at this time of a change that directly affects all Chapter M.E.D.’s.  At the 2006 Buckeye Rally, Chapter M.E.D.’s will be assigned the responsibility for coverage of the M.E.D. table in the registration area.  This change is not the result of any problems or concerns.  The Chapters and M.E.D.’s who provided coverage at this year’s rally did a great job.  Our District Director suggested this change and we fully concur that this change would provide all our Chapter M.E.D.’s with a great opportunity to put their recruitment skills to good use.

Congratulations to the first and second quarter Chapter Division Winners of the coveted “GIT-ER-DONE” Achievement Awards for having the highest number of new members in their division. And special congratulations to Chapter M-2 who won both the first and second quarter awards for their division.  Click on Ohio = 6K + Program to see the Chapter Division listing and winners.

The total new membership for all Chapters for the first quarter was 213 and for the second quarter 188 for a combined total of 401.  Our recruitment is healthy; unfortunately our retention needs some serious attention.  During this same period (January – June), our total membership overall is –67.  Had we retained current members, our total membership would be at 5549 instead of 5081. We still have time to correct this problem by becoming more proactive on retention and to keep the members we already have. If we don’t work on retention with the same level of energy and enthusiasm that we have on recruitment, we will continue to lose faster than we are able to gain...and we all know that this won’t help Ohio GWRRA grow!

Congratulations to Dick Herron and Kirby White as recent Heart Bar Earners in the May issue of Wing World.

We have had some concerns expressed to us regarding the monthly Chapter Area Run Reports and specifically the issues of zip code assignments and member revisions and transfers. Let us first address the issue of zip code revisions and the current status of this project. Only the North Central and South Central sections have submitted zip code revisions. Until we receive the remaining sections, we cannot proceed with submitting any changes to Region D or National (Phoenix). Until such time as the revised zip code assignments are submitted to Region D and National, members who have been incorrectly assigned to your Chapter will continue to appear on your monthly Area Run Reports. Please be reminded that when the reassignment of zip codes occurs, no Chapter will lose any of their current members, unless a member requests to transfer.
On the issue of member revisions and transfers that have been submitted, but have not yet appeared on your Chapter Area Run Report, we will do the follow up to get these changes made and keep them permanent in future Area Run Reports. We have some pending revisions that are almost completed for submission. As soon as these revisions are completed and submitted to Region D, we are going to compile all the revisions you have submitted on a master list and work with the Region D M.E.D.’s and National to make sure these corrections are made.

One other issue that deserves attention is that of the “temporary” membership cards. GWRRA has been in the process of revising membership cards for some time. The new cards are nearing production and will replace the current “temporary” paper cards. Mailing of these new cards is scheduled for July. Any renewals by members after July will be issued a new card replacing their current membership card.

Please be reminded that the revised Region D Expired Member Retention Form is available by at the top of this page. This form has been converted to Excel and can be completed on the computer. The form no longer has to be hand M.E.D.’s can now type in their name and their GWRRA membership number and email the form (signing and snail mailing is optional).

We have noticed in several of the Chapter newsletters that there is not an article by the Chapter M.E.D. While it may be more “paperwork” we highly recommend that each Chapter M.E.D. write a monthly newsletter article to keep membership recruitment and retention issues in front of the membership. If you need help or guidance regarding writing a M.E.D. newsletter article for you Chapter newsletter, call or email us for more information.

We have received additional donations from Ohio Honda dealers. We still need your assistance in getting additional donations by paying a personal visit to your local Honda dealer. We need to have as many prizes as possible for those that qualify for the OH=6K+ drawing to be held at the 2006 Cabin Fever.

Please know that your efforts and cooperation over the past six months are appreciated and we will work diligently to make sure that you get the results you are looking for by having as accurate a Chapter Area Run Report as possible.
