2007 Cabin Fever is behind us and we are proud to announce we have a new "Ohio 2007 District Couple".  They are Randy & Emily Wise from Chapter T-2 in Trotwood.  They competed with Carl and Cris Hauser from Chapter L in Cincinnati.  Both couples gave excellent presentations. Before the couples gave their presentations, my husband Dan showed a 6 minute slideshow that introduced the couples to the judges and audience members.  We welcome Randy & Emily to the District Staff and know they will represent Ohio well as they visit Ohio Chapters and make Region D appearances. Please visit the 2007 District Couple page for other pictures and information.

Your new 2007 Ohio District Couple, Randy & Emily Wise

Randy & Emily will be competing with the newly crowned Indiana & Michigan District Couples for the Region D Couple of the Year during the Region Rally this coming August. Put this on your schedule and show up to give Randy & Emily Ohio's support.  Wear your "Red." The dates are August 23rd to the 25th and will be held in Lebanon Indiana.

Congratulations To Both Of You!

More News...

Walt & Debbie Crosby were chosen Region D Couple of the Year at the Region Rally on Friday September 1st, 2006.  They competed with the District Couple's from Michigan, Bob and Nancy Natter and Indiana's Mark and Dawn Reed.  Walt & Debbie did a great job on their presentation and we know they will be an asset to the Region D Staff.  Ohio has been blessed with being the home state for the last 3 Region D Couples and we are proud of each and every one of them. First was Tim & Linda Fleming, Chapter Directors from T-2 and the 2004 Region Couple.  Next was Jim & Brenda Pennington from Chapter L. The 2005 Region Couple and current International Couple of the Year.  Now, Walt & Debbie from Chapter C-2.  If you can make it to Wing Ding this year, be sure to attend the International Couple of the Year Selection and root for Walt & Deb.  They could end up taking Jim and Brenda Pennington's place and being crowned the 2007/2008 International Couple of the Year.  Go OHIO!!!

Walt & Debbie, we wish you the very best in your new duties. We enjoyed getting to know you both and working with you for the past year.  We thank you for participating in the Couple of the Year Program and hope you will continue to encourage others to do the same.  Like the other Region D Couples before you, you now have 3 states and many more members pulling for you when you compete for International Couple next year at Wing Ding.  You have 10 months to prepare for Wing Ding, so take some time and enjoy your new title and meeting new friends in the 3 state region.

And...

GWRRA and Ohio has a new International Couple of the Year.  Jim & Brenda Pennington from Chapter L were Ohio's 2005 District Couple, the 2006 Region D Couple, and now they are our 2006-2007 International Couple of the Year. Congratulations Jim & Brenda! Jim and Brenda are long time members in GWRRA and have held just about every position there is at the Chapter Level and served on Ohio's District Staff in their early years.

This page was built around the idea that all chapter couples deserve some special recognition above and beyond what they receive from their home chapter.  The whole concept of the C.O.Y. program is to give recognition and thanks to deserving couples for their past positions, friendship, and the time they donated for the benefit of their local chapter.

There are many deserving couples in Ohio who in the past have declined to take part in the program because of the fear of competing in the District C.O.Y. selection process.  Believe me, that is not a requirement.  Nobody will try and force you to compete.  Ohio's goal is to have every chapter honor one of their couples each year. They should be told they will not be pressured into competing in the District COY selection if they so choose.
