MEDIC FIRST AID® FORMS - 2017
Class Request Form:
Requesting Officer Information:
GWRRA Rider Education has traditionally encouraged members to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid. These basic skills are easily learned and may make the
difference between life and death in the critical minutes before professionals help can arrive.
In 2001, GWRRA first introduced the MEDIC FIRST AID® Program to our members in hopes of providing an affordable source of vital CPR and First Aid training. GWRRA is a corporate sponsor of the MEDIC FIRST AID INTERNATIONAL of Eugene, Oregon also commonly referred to as MEDIC FIRST AID®.
In Region D, the MEDIC FIRST AID® program got its start when the
Region with its three Districts (Ohio, Michigan, & Indiana) split four ways the expense to purchase of a set of videotapes and training manikins. A rotating schedule was created which allowed for the sharing of the equipment among the three Districts. At that time, volunteers gave of their time to help move the equipment both within the Districts and from one District to another. As you can imagine one set of equipment, used by three Districts, got stretched pretty thin. Today, the individual Districts have purchased their own sets of training equipment. This allows the Districts’ increased flexibility to provide more MEDIC FIRST AID® classes for members.
Since 2001, hundreds of members in the Ohio District have taken advantage of this exciting program! MEDIC FIRST AID® offers our members a new adventure for training in a Low Stress environment with lots of “Hands-On” practice using Real Time Scenarios. The program also provides use of Excellent DVD’s and printed materials. Thanks to this high quality training program our GWRRA members are making a difference in the critical time of an emergency. In 2004, the MEDIC FIRST AID 6.0 Version training classes began including Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training. There have been numerous articles written about the widespread availability of AED's. However, there is still a shortage of responders trained in their use. This has cost some lives due to a delay in care. Now everyone who participates in a MEDIC FIRST AID® class will automatically be trained in the use of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
Currently, the Ohio District is offering MEDIC FIRST AID® Basic Plus 7.0 Version, which is a combined CPR / FIRST AID / AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) training program with recently issued G2010 updates. MEDIC FIRST AID® provides the students ample “hands on” practice with the training manikins in order to develop knowledge, skill, and confidence. This program with recently issued G2010 updates. MEDIC FIRST AID® provides the students ample “hands on” practice with the training manikins in order to develop knowledge, skill, and confidence. This program helps students learn how to respond to and care for medical emergencies. The cost for this enhanced MEDIC FIRST AID® presentation will be $25.00 per student payable in advance.
